MY TRAVEL TO BULGARIA

In my opinion this trip has been one of the best, since we have met new friends, different cultures, foods, landscapes, and of course we have improved our language, we have really enjoyed it!

FIRST DAY

On the first day, we arrived in Bulgaria at a quarter past ten. When we landed, our host families were already waiting for us at the airport. They greeted us warmly, and I felt both excited and a little nervous. After meeting them, we put our suitcases in the car and went to a shopping center, where we had pizza for lunch. It was a great way to start the trip because we could relax and talk with our new friends.

After lunch, we went to exchange money and took a walk around the area. Everything was new and interesting, from the streets to the buildings and the way people spoke. I noticed that Bulgarian sounds very different from Spanish, but I was curious to learn some words. When we finished our walk, we went home to have dinner, take a shower, and get ready for the next day.

SECOND DAY

On the second day, we visited Plovdiv, a beautiful and historic city. We spent the whole morning walking through its streets, seeing the ancient architecture, and taking pictures. The city had a mix of old and modern places, and I loved how colorful it was.

In the afternoon, we visited a Bulgarian school. It was very different from our school in Spain. The classrooms, the way students learned, and even the schedule were not the same. It was interesting to compare, and I enjoyed meeting new people. After school, we returned home to rest.

THIRD DAY

On the third day, we spent the morning at the school again. This time, they officially welcomed us, and we participated in different activities with the students. We played games, talked about our cultures, and even learned a few Bulgarian words. It was fun to share experiences and learn from each other.

Later, we had lunch with the teachers, which was a special experience because we could ask them questions about Bulgaria. After lunch, we visited Boyana Church, a very old and beautiful place. The paintings inside were impressive, and I learned a lot about the history behind them.

After that, we went to an exhibition called “Historical Art.” There were many interesting things to see, and I liked how each piece told a story about Bulgaria’s past.

FOURTH DAY

On the fourth day, we took a long trip to visit the Rila Monastery, one of the most important monasteries in Bulgaria. The journey was long, but it was worth it because the place was breathtaking. The monastery was surrounded by mountains, and everything looked so peaceful. The decorations and paintings inside were beautiful, and I could feel the history in every part of the building.

After visiting the monastery, we stopped at a restaurant to have lunch before continuing our trip. Later, when we arrived back at the school, Syana’s mother was waiting for us to take us to her birthday celebration. It was a lovely evening where we ate traditional food, talked, and celebrated together.

FIFTH DAY

The fifth day was our last day in Bulgaria, and I felt a bit sad because the trip was coming to an end. In the morning, we visited Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. I spent my time there buying souvenirs, including flags and small gifts for my family and friends. The city was full of life, and I loved exploring its streets.

Before leaving, I had an idea. I asked my host friend if we could return to her school so that all her classmates could sign my Bulgarian flag. I wanted to keep it as a memory of this wonderful experience. When we got there, everyone was happy to write messages, and I knew I would treasure this flag forever.

That night, we had a very special dinner with all the families and teachers. They served us typical Bulgarian dishes, which were delicious. After dinner, we received our Erasmus+ diplomas, and then we spent the rest of the evening dancing, playing, and enjoying our last moments together. It was a perfect way to end an unforgettable trip.

Saying goodbye the next morning was difficult, but I felt grateful for everything I had experienced. Bulgaria is a beautiful country, and this Erasmus trip taught me a lot about its culture, history, and people. I will always remember these days with a smile.
